Biography
Dr. Brandes is a neurologist who practices at the Hope Multiple Sclerosis Center in Knoxville, Tennessee since 2008. He received his master’s degree in biochemistry and his medical degree from UCLA, where he also completed his internship and neurology residency training. Dr. Brandes also completed the first MS Fellowship in the United States in 1972-73 at UCLA. He was Founder and Medical Director of the Northridge MS Center in Northridge, California from 1996-2008, which is one of the first private MS Centers in the United States. In addition, he is a past Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine. Dr. Brandes was Medical Director of the Northridge Hospital Sleep Disorders Center from 1994 to 2008 and is the Medical Director of California Rest Analysis from 2005 to the present He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and also the American Heart Association, Stroke Council. He is also a member of the Multiple Sclerosis, Sleep and Stroke Sections of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Brandes gives numerous presentations annually about both MS and sleep disorders in the United States and abroad. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Immunosuppressive treatments, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, disease-modifying therapy studies, as well as MS and sleep disorders, medication adherence and cost issues in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
